FM-6 - State of the Art 2½-way Loudspeaker

Gato Audio FM-6 speakers are designed for larger listening rooms, which they manage to fill with a great and incredibly well-balanced sound. You will enjoy a genuine state-of-the-art product that excels in terms of quality impression, design and sonic performance. Also in the measurement laboratory mark themselves with high sensitivity, wide frequency response and ultra low distortion. They are supplied in black, white and walnut - all in high gloss.

The cabinet tilts backwards at a 2.5 degree sloping angle so the emanations from the three speaker drivers unite in phase at the recommended listening position. The plinth is fitted with four adjustable spikes to ensure unwavering stability even on uneven floor surfaces and also prevent the speaker from rocking in step with the recoil forces from the immensely powerful speaker drivers.

The extruded aluminum rear profile on the Gato Audio FM-6 dampens resonances and reduces the recoil force’s influence on the dynamics. This is achieved by increasing the loudspeaker’s mass and also due to the occurring diode effect when materials of varying stiffness and density are linked together. The aluminum profile also ensures a beautiful design correlation with Gato Audio's amplifier and CD player.

Gato Audio's beautiful WBT bi-wiring terminals make connectivity easy exactly according to the user's preferences with a choice between banana plugs, bare wires, pins or spades. Large contact surfaces and a wide copper cross-section minimize electrical resistance and facilitate efficient transfer of huge electrical transients. Naturally, Gato Audio also produces pre-assembled cables in State-of-the-art quality that match the company’s electronics and speakers.

The cabinets are assembled in form shaped MDF and internally braced with resonance damping profiles. The beautiful teardrop shape makes the design vivid and light, simultaneously creating ideal acoustic conditions for the loudspeaker units. First and foremost, there is an abundance of air to make the music really come alive! In addition, the absence of parallel surfaces ensures a lack of reflected sound that could form acoustic resonances.

A beautiful industrial design is characterized not just by its clever solutions, but also by the choice of beautiful materials and minutely fastidious approach to even tiny details such as veneering and lacquering as well as the shape of the decorative trim rings machined from aluminum. The concave shape of the tweeter unit's front ensures a well-controlled sound spread and linear frequency response up to almost a full octave above the audible range.

Top-class crossover components are a prerequisite in State-of-the-art products such as Gato Audio FM-6. This thick PCB handles only the transition from treble to midrange, while a second PCB takes care of controlling the system's dedicated lower bass range driver. Huge low-resistance insatiable inductor coils, costly Clarity Cap capacitors with extra-high voltage limit and induction-free power resistors all belong naturally in the design.
